Ever since he was young, Dr. Joe knew that he was going to be a dentist. His father, Joe Sr., began Eckman Family Dentistry in 1970 after returning to Chester County from the Philippines after serving as a dentist in the Navy. The practice grew from a one-chair office located in Joe Sr.'s home to a carriage house adjacent to the home, and eventually to its current home in Willowdale.
Joe Jr. graduated from Kennett High School in 1996, and studied music and trumpet performance at Messiah College, graduating in 2000. A 2004 graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, Dr. Joe immediately joined the practice, working alongside his father. In 2006, a second location was built in the Jennersville/West Grove area, and Joe Jr. was put in charge of fostering its growth. It wasn't long before the satellite location was as busy and successful as the original.
In 2013, Dr. Joe Sr. passed away from melanoma, and Joe Jr. began to work at both locations again. He can be seen in the Jennersville office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and in the Unionville office on Thursdays. He hopes to continue his father's legacy of providing quality, affordable dentistry in a timely, common-sense fashion for many years to come.
Joe has been married to his wife, Elizabeth, since 2001. She is originally from East Hampton, NY, and the family spends a good deal of time back on Long Island during the summer months. They have three children (Daisy b. 2002, Tucker b. 2005, and Lucy b. 2006) and a cock-a-poo named Sammy.
When not in the office, Joe can be found doing something with music. He plays the trumpet and volunteers his time teaching beginning students at West Fallowfield Christian School. He enjoys writing and arranging music for the local high school choir programs (Unionville and Avon Grove) and plays guitar and keyboard for the worship team at Willowdale Chapel. He also enjoys being on the audience side, especially when his wife and kids are performing, and he plays roller hockey in a men's league.

Dr. Gary Cramer IIIDMD
Born in Texas, Dr. Gary moved to Kennett Square as a six-week-old after his father took a job as the Associate Pastor of Willowdale Chapel in Unionville. It just so happened that Dr. Joe Eckman, Sr. and his family attended there and a strong friendship soon budded between Gary’s father and Joe Sr. Thus, his family soon became patients of Eckman Family Dentistry. The Cramer’s spent the next seven years in Kennett and Dr. Gary attended Mary D. Lang elementary school for kindergarten and half of first grade. In the middle of first grade he and his family moved to Alabama after his father accepted a job as a Senior Pastor of a church in Birmingham. His family still resides there today.
However, the move to the South could not stop Dr. Joe Sr. from influencing Gary. As a high school and college student, Gary remembers Joe Sr. coming to visit his family to spend time with them. He would also call Gary and ask him what he was doing with his life. As Gary likes to put it, “I didn’t really know what I wanted to do and Dr. Joe basically told me I was going to be a dentist and that I would love it. At the time I thought nothing of it, but now that I am a dentist I cannot deny that he was right. I could not see myself doing anything else with my life. This is my calling.”
Dr. Gary is a 2011 graduate of Samford University where he played 4 years of collegiate baseball for the Bulldogs as a catcher and designated hitter. At Samford he studied Sports Medicine and was awarded the Dr. James E Sharman Award given each year to the top graduating Sports Medicine Major. He is a 2015 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Upon graduation he was named the Birmingham District Dental Society Outstanding Graduating Student of the Year Award for 2015, an honor bestowed upon him by the faculty of the dental school for both clinical excellence and doctor-patient relations. Dr. Gary joined Eckman Family Dentistry as a full-time associate in June 2015 and enjoys providing caring and quality dentistry in all fields of general dentistry. He can be found in our Unionville office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and our Jennersville location on Thursday.
Dr. Gary is lucky enough to be married to his Alabama-native wife, Meagan, a fourth year OB-GYN resident at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE. They keep an active lifestyle together and enjoy travel and the outdoors. In their spare time you can find Gary and Meagan snowboarding, hiking, golfing, fishing and working out. Gary also enjoys music and serves as a worship leader at Willowdale Chapel. He is also a blues/rock guitar player in a local Kennett band known as the Delmonts.
